SexTherapy.Com is a resource tool developed by the staff at The Center For Growth / Sex Therapy in Philadelphia This site was designed with a dual purpose. First, to bring together professionals from different disciplines, who have expertise in human sexuality issues to ensure that people all over the world have access to accurate sexual health information. We believe that everyone has a basic human right to sexual health. Second, to provide a space for dialogue on complex social and cultural questions that relate to sex. For example, within the field of human sexuality, there is a lot of controversy about what is sexual health. Common areas of controversy are: Should prostitution be legal? At what point should a fetus have legal rights? If at all? Should fertility treatment be covered by health insurance? Should contraception be accessible to everyone regardless of religious beliefs and cost? What is the best way to rehabilitate a sexual offender? Or should resources even be spent to help? At what age can children consent to having sex? Is pornography good? How should parents talk to their children about sexuality? What does healthy sexuality look like for an individual, for couples or even societies? Our goal is to facilitate professionals in the field to start to dialogue together about how to best create an atmosphere of sexual health. To create this atmosphere, lawyers are needed to ensure that each person’s legal rights are being honored. Doctors, nurses, and physician assistants are needed to ensure that people are receiving the proper medical treatment. Pelvic floor therapists who help people rehabilitate and maximize their physical options. Spiritual & religious leaders to engage a person on a spiritual level. Counselors and Therapists to help people develop the mind body connection to get the most out of sex. And sex educators to teach people about what to expect and what to even ask for. In part, due to the overwhelming amount of controversy within the field, our goal is to empower the client to better understand who they are receiving treatment from so they can make an informed decision about who might be best able to help them.

The History of The Center for Growth

The Center for Growth is the brain child of "Alex" Caroline Robboy, CAS, MSW, LCSW. In 1997, while at a dual degree graduate program at the University of Pennsylvania she created an online sex education program, Human Sexuality Education Inc. Early on she recognized the potential of the Internet to reach millions of people to teach people sexual pleasuring techniques. Her work was grounded in the belief that everyone had the need / right to basic information about sex and sexuality.

In 2003, when her oldest son was 4 months old, she expanded the mission of her company to include a physical presence where she could work with clients face to face to provide traditional sex therapy and general counseling. To reflect this change, she changed the name of the company to The Center For Growth. By 2007, she had outgrown her office space and the rest is history. Today, the Center for Growth is a dedicated group of 20+ therapists in three locations all dedicated to helping people achieve their dreams. With this national sex / sexuality directory our hope is to create free access to accurate, healthy sex-related information.
