BIO

I believe that because we are complex individuals, an approach that integrates both mind and body is essential for the healing, growth, and resiliency that are the goals of therapeutic counseling.  I bring to my work as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist  not only my training in clinical psychology and expressive arts but also my experience as a registered yoga teacher.  My clinical training has been focused on working with people who want to more fully integrate their emotional and cognitive experiences to enrich their quality of life. The premise of my work incorporates maximizing the soulful, cognitive, emotional, and physical elements of our being.  While my clinical practice begins primarily with western psychological theory and practice, I am attentive to the links between the mind and the body and how essential that integration is toward healing the whole person.  Ultimately, I believe that the success of the therapeutic process lies in the ability of you and me, as a team working together,  to understand the challenges and the opportunities present in your daily life. As we reach a deeper understanding of the difficult emotional components that have led to destructive attitudes, behaviors, and habits, we can then turn toward utilizing the most research-based and effective tools for changing those patterns and improving the overall quality of your life. This is the collaborative approach I embrace.  Treatment specializations include: trauma/PTSD, depression and anxiety, family and couples counseling, children and adolescents, work and career issues, stress and/or pain management, life transitions, self-esteem, mental illness/mental health issues, gender and/or sexual identity, and LGBTQIA communities.
