BIO

Samantha is a licensed social worker with masters degrees in social work and human sexuality education from Widener University. She sees adult individuals and couples for mental health, sex, and relationship therapy at the Center For Growth in Society Hill, where she has been practicing for 2 years. She spent the four years before this working in an agency setting helping members of the community achieve stability, often with cooccurring mental health and substance abuse issues. Samantha uses an integrative approach to meet clients where they are and facilitate growth, healing and self discovery through whichever methods are most appropriate for the client. She is a warm, open minded person who loves connecting with new clients and watching them gain insights and become better versions of themselves. Samantha often pulls from cognitive behavioral and narrative therapies to help clients understand how they make meaning of the world and themselves, and shift thinking patterns that may have once been adaptive, but now create distress and dysfunction. She also draws from psychodynamic models to help clients gain awareness of how their past shapes them today. She is equipped with behavioral exercises to help individuals and couples communicate more effectively, build intimacy and create healthy and fulfilling emotional and physical connections. Samantha is particularly interested in incorporating mindfulness into her sessions, such as teaching breathing exercises, using guided meditations, and teaching skills to help clients become more present in the world and with each other.

Philosophy

Samantha believes that everyone has the ability to growth and change and often has the tools within themselves to do so. We can use the resources around us to help us tap into that inherent wisdom to understand how we can be our best selves. Samantha believes that there are many ways to live and enjoy life and does not judge others lifestyle as long as it doesn't cause harm to anyone. She encourages clients to shift away from judging themselves based on societal norms and instead consider whether their thoughts and behaviors are serving them or creating distress. She wants to help clients figure out how to live their best life, focusing on their unique needs, desires, aspirations and preferences.
